My reflection on Andela’s Epic Values
Andela being an Information technology company has helped change my orientation towards positive thinking and continuous learning. Working with Andelans and being given a project to work on has being highly motivating. As I begin to find writing more interesting with the believe that nothing is unattainable.
Indulge me to enlighten you about the EPIC values of these awesome company that changes the lives of thousands of people across the globe.
As we all know that every company be it small or largescale enterprise has a mission and vision, but this is nothing to tamper with.
EPIC is an acronym which stands for Excellence, Passion, Integrity and Collaboration.
Excellence is defined by Google as “the quality of being outstanding or extremely good”. These applies to the individual who chooses to work or excel at every time, because your best work speaks volumes. It is key to keep in mind that being excellent is not relative because there is a clear difference between being good and being excellent. This attribute is highly imperative to me because it helps me carve a structure for best behavior. I find it interesting that the human brain as no limit as such, as to the quantity of information it can access per time.
Passion is a drive, it is a force that keeps a person sustained especially when at the verge of giving in to life’s harsh challenges, passion then kicks in. Even the Bible, describes Passion as the “the suffering and death of Jesus”. If a person is not passionate about something, then he backs out. This value has being a wake up call for me.
Integrity is the value that raises the brows against counterfeit work. Therefore, a person should be “the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles” especially to work.
Collaboration is the action of working with someone to produce something meaningful, it should also be stated that this person might be a friend or not. Always set your standard, shelf them aside to do the best job but keep a healthy environment. This value produces the best result if drilled to the bearest minimum.
However, The Andela EPIC values has lots of meanings attached to it. I will be elated to be a part of this growing culture because Andela is definitely one of the best companies to work for in Nigeria. I will also intrigue upcoming developers like myself to work their way into Andela because, trust me when I say the best minds live, breath and dream code right here.
How we do our best work is a reflection of who we are. Also, the only way to do great work is to love what you do.
